Tonight marked Max Domi's first home game at Scotiabank Arena in a Leafs jersey, albeit a pre-season contest. Still, even with the game being relatively unimportant, there was a great deal of electricity in the air before the game when Domi was announced for the first time in front of the hometown crowd.
Domi wasn't brought to Toronto for the same reason that his dad was. Instead, Max was brought in by new Leafs GM Brad Treliving because he believed in the 2nd generation NHLer's playmaking ability and the energy he brings to the locker room.
Domi is more than just a playmaker, though, as he showed in this one. After setting up linemate William Nylander for a quality chance, the puck popped back out to Domi, who fired it past Habs netminder Jake Allen. The crowd immediately erupted and his reaction to the goal was absolutely priceless.
Domi will have a chance to do some real damage this season playing on a line with Nylander, as the two have shown some excellent chemistry early on. If they can keep it up, they may help form one of the best third lines in hockey this year.
