Today's waiver wire isn't nearly as flooded as yesterday's, but as teams continue to trim the fat, we have nearly 30 new players who were placed on waivers at 2:00 pm ET on Monday. As usual, TSN's Chris Johnston was right on top of things, revealing all of the names shortly after 2:00 pm.

Among the players who were waived by their respective teams on Monday, there were 3 former Leafs among them in Ryan McGregor, Adam Brooks and Victor Mete.

McGregor was a former 6th round pick of the Leafs back in 2017, but barely got his feet wet in the Leafs organization, playing 4 games with the Toronto Marlies before being sent back to his junior club in Sarnia. The bulk of McGregor's pro career has been played in the Coyotes' system, playing the last 3 seasons with the Tucson Roadrunners in the AHL.

Meanwhile, Adam Brooks was drafted by the Leafs in the 4th round back in 2016 and has spent several years bouncing around the league as a bit of a tweener, often displaying flashes of being too good for the AHL, but not quite good enough to stick in the NHL on a consistent basis. Over the past 3 seasons alone, Brooks has spent time with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms (AHL), Winnipeg Jets, Henderson Silver Knights (AHL), Vegas Golden Knights, Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Marlies (AHL) and, of course, the Leafs. He has certainly become quite the journeyman.

As far as Mete goes, he was drafted in the 4th round back in 2016 by the Montreal Canadiens and played parts of 4 seasons with the Habs before landing in Ottawa and then in Toronto on a bit of a Canadian tour. Mete was signed as added defensive depth last season, but appeared in just 11 games for the Leafs and 6 games for the Marlies due to injuries and the tragic death of his grandfather in a mass shooting in Vaughan, Ontario late last year.

As of this point, the Leafs have yet to place anyone from this year's team on waivers, but those decisions are coming at us fast, as the regular season is set to open next week. The Leafs remain approximately $2.9M over the salary cap, so either a trade and/or several waiver placements are certainly on the way.
