As it turns out, some NCAA players don't take their opportunity seriously enough, as Moldenhauer is baring witness to right now. Per a recent report, one of his teammates has been removed from the University of Michigan's hockey program due to "violating team rules" last week. At the time of the announcement, the nature of the violation was unknown. However, the facts came to light over the weekend when it was revealed that Johnny Druskinis was caught on camera spray painting swastikas onto the Jewish Resource Center during welcome week.
The unfathomable act would not be tolerated by the University and his removal from the team comes just one week before the start of the Wolverines' 2023-24 regular season.
"Johnny Druskinis is no longer on the Michigan Hockey roster, following a violation of team rules," a Michigan hockey spokesperson said in a statement to The Michigan Daily
The 20-year-old, undrafted defenseman joined the University of Michigan last season after three seasons in the USHL and one in the NAHL. Most of last season saw Druskinis red-shirted as he only played in 8 games registering just 2 points. Given the depth that Michigan has on their blueline again this season, Druskinis was likely to see more time in the press-box than on the ice so it is not much of a loss for the team itself.
Currently, there are no charges being brought forth against Druskinis, but it would not be surprising to see him charged for his heinous, reprehensible behaviour very soon.
