Maple Leafs announce a large round of training camp roster cuts

With the regular season just over 1 week away and pre-season games almost completed, the Toronto Maple Leafs have finally joined in on the fun and have announced their first rounds of cuts, which include 27 players - most of whom are being assigned to the Toronto Marlies.

The forwards being cut:

Nick Abruzzese
Joseph Blandisi
Max Ellis
Roni Hirvonen
Braeden Kressler
Robert Mastrosimone
Dmitry Ovchinnikov
Jay O'Brien
Neil Shea
Logan Shaw
Tate Singleton,
Josiah Slavin
Alex Steeves
Keenan Suthers
Ryan Tverberg
Ty Voit
Tyler Weiss

The defensemen being cut:

Nolan Dillingham
Matt Hellickson
Topi Niemela
Matthew Pietroniro,
Marshall Rifai
Johnny Tychonick
William Villeneuve

The goaltenders being cut:

Luke Cavallin
Dennis Hildeby
Vyacheslav Peksa

Some notables that have been cut from the roster but had spent time with NHL regulars during camp include: Nick Abruzzese, Alex Steeves, and Topi Niemala.

However, as things stand right now, Fraser Minten, Easton Cowan, Nick Robertson, Pontus Holmberg, Mikko Kokkonen and Spencer Sova have survived this large round of cuts.
