Leafs announce two more trades, dealing with the Islanders and the Canucks; Insiders reporting Leafs not done yet either
After trading Rasmus Sandin to Washington for a first round pick and Erik Gustafsson, Kyle Dubas continued to wheel and deal, completing an additional two trades.
First the Leafs traded Pierre Engvall to the Islanders for a 2024 third round pick. Following that deal, the Leafs then traded a 2023 third round pick to Vancouver for former Leaf Luke Schenn.
Engvall is a UFA at the end of the season and trading him frees up enough cap space for the Leafs to activate Matt Murray from LTIR as he makes $2.25M for the season. Schenn on the other hand is making only $850K this season and is also a UFA at seasons end.
Kyle Dubas definitely woke up and ate his Wheaties this morning. He's been a busy man just a few short days before the deadline. Several Insiders are also reporting that the Leafs are not done yet and we could see at least one more move over the next few hours
