The Leafs are back in Toronto on Tuesday and are right back to work on the practice sheet at Ford Performance Center. One notable change appears to be coming ahead of the Leafs' tilt with the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday as Robertson was spotted in regular bottom-six white, meaning that we're likely to see him back in the lineup.
Robertson has had a tough go this season after scoring 2 goals in his season debut against Dallas. The sophomore winger has seen just 11 games of action with the Buds this season and has not recorded a single point in any of his previous 4 outings, being limited to just 5 points in 11 games this season.
It's been tough for Robertson to really get going and find his groove this season offensively, as he's been limited to just 3 games with ice time above 14 minutes in his 11 appearances. Those were his first 3 appearances of the season. Since that time, Robertson has routinely played between 6-12 minutes per game, often in a bottom-six role.
With the makeup of the Leafs' bottom six being very defense-focused, Robertson is going to be hard-pressed to generate anything on the offensive side of the puck down there, so if he does hope to push for more minutes and more games played this season, he'll really have to rely on the defensive aspects of his game and show Sheldon Keefe that he can be relied upon defensively and positionally when he's not generating offense. Having said that, as an offensive forward, the bottom six may not be the best place for Robertson to carve out a role with the team.
