From what we can deduce, it seems as though forward Brandon Lisowsky was cut from the Maple Leafs training camp that had started earlier this week. He was added to the Saskatoon Blades' top line on Saturday, so one would have to imagine that the 2022 7th round pick has been sent down, effectively ending his training camp.
Drafted with the 8th last pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, Lisowsky put up wicked numbers in his draft+1 season. Considering where he was drafted, scoring 38 goals and 71 points in 65 games at the age of 19.. that is pretty good value.
In reality, Lisowsky was not going to crack the NHL roster and he's still considered underage for the AHL. He did, however, lead all Leafs prospects in goals at the recent Traverse City tournament as well, so you can bet that the Leafs will be keeping a close eye on him this year in Saskatoon.
I'd imagine that we'll hear of the first wave of cuts sooner than later - likely before the Leafs' pre-season opener against Ottawa this afternoon.
