Morgan Rielly and Rasmus Sandin are currently out with knee and neck injuries, respectively, but joined the Leafs on this roadtrip and even participated in practice this morning. Rielly has been out since November 21st. Meanwhile, Sandin was placed on IR on December 22nd following the Leafs' win over Tampa on the 21st.

Today, fans were given an update on both defensemen by Seldon Keefe:

At least it's something, right?

Although there is no set return for either player, it's good to see Rielly and Sandin improving. The Leafs' D corps has been plagued with injuries all season, with Rielly and Sandin being two of the most notable absences.

The fact that both have joined and skated on this away trip, which won't have the Leafs playing back in Toronto until early next week, is a good sign. So maybe we'll see either Rielly or Sandin sooner than we think.
