Following their 5-2 loss to the Bruins last night, the Leafs made the decision to send Pontus Holmberg and Joseph Woll down to the Marlies while the Leafs are on the All-Star break and bye week. The move was only done to keep them active and get them into games as the Marlies play twice this weekend and the Leafs aren't back in action until next Friday against Columbus.

Holmberg will likely slot into the Marlies' top six while Woll will play one or both of the Marlies' games this weekend as he will look to improve on his stellar 12-1-0 record with them this season.

The Leafs would have liked to send Joey Anderson down as well, however, he now has to clear waivers again as he played in his 10th consecutive game last night. If the Leafs put him on waivers, they would likely lose him to a waiver claim, as per usual, and while it would clear a contract spot, it would diminish the Leafs' depth up front before the deadline.
