Leafs expected to add feared enforcer on multi-year deal when free agency opens
There have been rumblings over the last few days that the Leafs and GM Brad Treliving had shown some interest in Minnesota Wild forward Ryan Reaves. The 36-year-old is coming off of a 1-year deal that saw him earn $1.75M this past season.
Reaves began last season with the Rangers before being traded to Minnesota. Skating in 73 games between the two teams, Reaves registered 15 points and 43 penalty minutes. The 6'2, 220 pound winger is reportedly going to sign a multi-year deal with the Leafs on Saturday, per The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta.
Reaves has been at or near the top of the league in hits the last few seasons and is not only one of the toughest guys in the league, but also one of the best locker room guys. If the Leafs are also able to re-sign Noel Acciari, the fourth line will be one of the most physical in the league.
