Well, here we are, officially one month into Brad Treliving's tenure as GM of the Leafs and while many had expected significant change this summer in Toronto, so far, Treliving appears to be entirely satisfied with running it back - so much so that there have been rumours in recent days about potential new contracts for players like Alexander Kerfoot and, now, Justin Holl as well.

That's right, you read that correctly. Per ESPN's Ryan S. Clark, there have been multiple teams who have reached out to the Leafs for permission to speak with Holl ahead of free agency tomorrow and, according to Clark, they were told that there's still a chance that Holl returns with the Leafs.

Honestly, this might become my joker origin story. The Leafs have run back the same core for several years now, with not much to show for it - and once they finally end up with a new GM and the fanbase has accepted that it might be time for a significant overhaul, the new GM just decides to keep the band together and even attempts to bring back the fringe pieces, like Holl and Kerfoot? These were two of the most highly-criticized pieces in Toronto and both have worn out their welcome as far as most are concerned. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!

Obviously, nothing is final until it's final, but if the Leafs do run back with a near-identical team to the one who fell short of expectations again last season, I'm not sure Leafs Nation will be overly enthused with upper-management.
