Hockey is a game that we all love, but the NHL, before anything else, is a business - and within that business, there is a lot of movement. One such move took place this summer as the Washington Capitals chose not to extend a qualifying offer to Ilya Samsonov, who turned around and signed a 1-year deal with the Leafs as a UFA.

On Thursday, the former 1st round pick (22nd overall in 2015) got his first crack at his former team in the Leafs' home opener. How did he fair? Well, he did allow a couple of soft goals, but he was largely solid in the contest, limiting the Caps to just 2 goals in the game, skating away with a 3-2 win.

After the game, Samsonov was asked, among other things, what it was like to play against his old team and if any words were shared between whistles. Samsonov revealed that there were plenty of words exchanged, but none of them good.

"A lot of bad words, you know."

He said it with a chuckle, so there's a chance that it was all light-hearted. However, there were rumours circulating this summer that Samsonov was pushed out of Washington due to a rift with Alex Ovechkin. It's really anyone's guess what led to Samsonov being left unqualified, but the Leafs certainly don't mind how things ended up. I'm sure Samsonov doesn't either.
