Leafs lock up 28-year-old NHL veteran to minor-league deal
The Toronto Marlies have re-signed Toronto native Joseph Blandisi to a one-year AHL deal. The 28-year-old joined the Marlies last season where he put up 29 points in 43 games after playing the previous two seasons with the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins and Laval Rocket.
Drafted by Colorado in the 2012 draft, Blandisi has previously skated in 101 NHL games for the Penguins, Devils, and Ducks. He last played in the NHL during the 2019-2020 season where he played in 21 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins, registering 1 goal and 4 points.
At 5'11, Blandisi isn't a big centerman, but he isn't exactly small either and will provide the Marlies with more depth as they could see the likes of Alex Steeves, Nick Robertson and Pontus Holmberg make the jump to the Leafs or at the very least, spend extended periods of time with them, barring injury.
