Leafs make surprising roster move ahead of Fridays practice, could make Leafs debut this weekend
The Leafs recalled Radim Zohorna from the Marlies moments before practice began Friday afternoon. The 6'6, 220 pound forward can play all three forward positions and was recalled on emergency loan which indicates another forward may be injured.
Zohorna was acquired on deadline day from Calgary in exchange for Dryden Hunt, who was originally acquired in exchange for former Leaf Denis Malgin. In 46 games with the Marlies and Calgary Wranglers, Zohorna has 11 goals and 31 points, but when he was acquired by Kyle Dubas, Dubas mentioned that it was his size the Leafs wanted saying that the scouts were impressed with his play in Calgary.
Zohorna was seen skating on a make-shift fourth line with Ryan O'Reilly and Zach Aston-Reese during practice and looks to be making his Leaf debut Saturday in Ottawa. The 27-year-old Zohorna will be a UFA at the end of the season.
