The Leafs may have found a hidden gem in the goaltending department in 2021 6th round draft pick Vyacheslav Peksa. With the track record Dubas has developed with European super agent Dan Milstein, and the reputation he has built for finding hidden talent in the European leagues, it should come as no surprise that Dubas seems to have found, at the very least, some valuable goaltending depth for a Leafs organization that has not had much of it over the past decade.

Peksa was selected in last year's NHL draft by the Leafs with the 185th pick and is currently playing for Irbis Kazan in the MHL where he has posted a 1.83GAA and .936 save percentage in 50 games. He also has an astounding 8 shutouts on the season.

By no means should he be dubbed as a saviour or "the next great" for the Leafs, but should he continue to develop and maintain those kinds of numbers, he could be in line for a full time jump to the KHL or potentially even with the Marlies if he decides to come to North America.

With Ian Scott consistently battling injury and Joseph Woll looking like he will be making his way to the Leafs in the next season or two, adding Peksa to the organization will provide the Leafs with some additional and much needed depth in North America battling with Erik Kallgren and Keith Petruzzelli for playing time.
