Some big news coming out of Ontario on Monday as Premier Doug Ford announced that the original timelines for re-opening dates of bars, restaurants gyms and sports venues, among other businesses has been moved up.

The impact that this news will have on both the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Ottawa Senators is significant, as neither team was expected to be able to open up to 100% fan attendance until at least March 14th. With the latest announcement from the Ontario government, the Leafs and Sens can return to 100% capacity 14 days early, on March 1st.

In addition, both NHL clubs will be able to allow 50% capacity for home games, which will be music to the ears of ownership, management and players alike. Players have especially noticed a lack of energy in their home barns with no hometown crowd to feed off of.

«Given how well Ontario has done in the Omicron wave we are able to fast track our reopening plan. This is great news and a sign of just how far we've come together in our fight against the virus. While we aren't out of the woods just yet we are moving in the right direction,» Ford said on Monday.

Let the games begin!!
