The Leafs announced their Traverse City Prospect Tournament roster on Tuesday and, for the most part, the roster shapes up pretty much exactly like what you might expect. However, there is one name that has been left off the list, causing some raised eyebrows

21-year-old forward Mikhail Abramov was not included on the team's 27-man roster, which is quite strange, considering the fact that Abramov just wrapped up his first AHL season. Abramov, a 4th round pick by the Leafs in 2019, skated in 66 games for the Toronto Marlies last season, producing just 7 goals and 28 points. That's not the strange part. The strange part is that fellow 21-year-old Nick Robertson was listed on the Prospect Tournament roster.

Among the potential reasons why Abramov was left off the roster, we can include possible injury, possible travel issues relating to being stuck at home in Russia or perhaps even that the Leafs could be negotiating a potential trade, for which Abramov might be one of the pieces. I'm willing to bet that it's one of the first two reasons, but given how close we are to training camp and the fact that the Leafs are still $1.5M over the cap with Rasmus Sandin still in need of a contract, we simply cannot rule out the possibility of a trade.
