We're starting to see something with this Leafs team that we haven't seen in a number of years; a group of prospects who appear to be excelling at the various levels below the NHL, providing some real hope for the future of the franchise.
Anderson was brought to Toronto in the deal that sent Andreas Johnsson to the New Jersey Devils back in 2020. There was hope when the trade was completed that the former 3rd round pick (73rd overall in 2016) would be in the NHL sooner than later, but the fact that he isn't as fleet-of-foot as one needs to be in order to be effective at the NHL level has hindered him at times.
Last season, Anderson led the Marlies in goals, with 26 goals in 56 games. Following last season's performance, the hope was that he'd be ready for full-time NHL action this season and win a job out of training camp. However, the fact that he did not doesn't mean that we won't see him back with the Leafs this season - especially after the start he's had in the AHL.
