Leafs provide significant update on injured defenseman
Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Mark Giordano has been out of action since November 28th after breaking his finger in a game against the Florida Panthers. The injury was the third injury to force out a member of the Leafs' starting D corps this season, but on Thursday, the 40-year-old took a step in his recovery.
Giordano joined the team for their full skate this morning in Buffalo, skating on the 4th pair, alongside William Lagesson. Gio hasn't taken part in a full practice yet, so it will take sometime to get back into game shape. Sheldon Keefe has already confirmed that he won't return before Christmas.
"It is encouraging, great to see him out. He has been progressing very well. He won't play before Christmas. The timeline points more toward him being day to day as we return from the Christmas break." - Keefe on Giordano
Giordano has appeared in 20 games this season scoring 1 goal and 5 points while averaging 17:52 in ice time.
The blueline in Toronto is finally starting to get healthy again after going through injury troubles earlier in the season. Conor Timmins, Timothy Liljgren, Jake McCabe, John Klingberg and T.J. Brodie have all missed time this season because of injury. Defenceman Morgan Rielly is the only Toronto blue liner who has appeared in every game this season.
