Heading into Tuesday night's game against the Florida Panthers, the Toronto Maple Leafs were already without John Klingberg (hip) and Timothy Liljegren (ankle) on the blueline, which had forced the Leafs to deploy Mark Giordano in a top-four role. Unfortunately, with just under five minutes left in the first period, Giordano blocked a shot that ultimately caused him to leave the game and not return.

Following the game, Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe announced that Giordano would miss some time and revealed yesterday that he would not play tonight as they waited for further test results to come back. With Giordano joining Klingberg and Liljegren on the injured list, the Leafs have recalled Maxime Lajoie from the Toronto Marlies. It remains to be seen if Lajoie will enter the lineup tonight against the Seattle Kraken.

Lajoie played in 1 game for the Leafs already this season and has played in 14 games with the Marlies where he has registered five assists. The 26-year-old Calgary native signed a 1-year deal with the Leafs in the off-season worth $775K. The former fifth-round pick has appeared in 71 NHL games since being drafted in 2016 registering 15 points.
