Last week, the Leafs surprised a lot of people by sending down Pontus Holmberg. Holmberg had been on emergency loan since November and quickly became the Leafs' third line center. The reason for his demotion was due to the fact he was recovering from the flu bug that was going through the locker room and had kept him off skates for the better part of a week.

It hit Auston Matthews, Rasmus Sandin and Bobby McMann as well, but Holmberg took the longest to recover from it. Having not played in a week, the Leafs sent Holmberg down to play in a couple of games for the Marlies and Sheldon Keefe said at the time that Holmberg would be back up very soon.

Recalled last night after the Leafs placed Dryden Hunt on waivers, Holmberg will rejoin the Leafs for practice Monday. In 28 games this season, Holmberg has 4 goals and 11 points.
