The plan throughout the entire off-season was to have Joseph Woll and Ilya Samsonov enter the season as the Leafs' duo between the pipes. During the pre-season, both have seen limited action so far, but that will change during the final two pre-season games against Detroit.

Today, following practice, Sheldon Keefe revealed how he plans to utilize both goaltenders over the final two games. Keefe stated this morning that Samsonov will start tonight and Woll will play Saturday in Detroit. Both goalies are expected to play the full 60 minutes, according to Keefe, which means that we likely won't see Martin Jones again in the pre-season.

The Leafs have an important decision to make about Jones, who was signed as veteran insurance in case Woll or Samsonov struggled or got hurt during camp. There was always a chance that he'd be claimed if he wound up on waivers. Now, we appear to be one step closer to a potential waiver placement for Jones.

Do the Leafs place him on waivers and hope he sneaks through unclaimed or do they find a way to keep him on the main roster until the goalie carousel settles down? The Leafs have less than a week to make a decision on that.
