The Toronto Maple Leafs have activated goaltender Ilya Samsonov from the injured reserve and in a corresponding move have demoted Erik Kallgren to the Toronto Marlies.

Samsonov, who has not played since the 5th of November due to a knee injury, is set to start against the San Jose Sharks tonight at the Scotiabank Centre. The injury occurred on a penalty shot against Brad Marchand and he has been missed after he posted a 6-2-0 record with a .921 SV% and a 2.23 GAA to start the season.

The Maple Leafs made due with Erik Kallgren with both goaltenders spending time on the IR as he posted a 3-2-4 record in 10 games with a .898 SV% and a 2.67 GAA In a very important juncture of the regular season, Kallgren stepped up and helped the Leafs keep steady in the tough Atlantic Division.

Matt Murray returned from the injured reserve on the 15th of November and has won 5 of his last 6 games with his only loss coming in overtime against the red-hot New Jersey Devils. He has returned to peak form as well with an incredible .938 SV% and has given risen confidence to the Leafs and their fan base in between the pipes.
