The Leafs continue making offseason moves at all levels of the organization as we await the contract extension announcements for William Nylander and Auston Matthews. In fact, they recently signed the older brother of a popular NHLer who plays for one of the Leafs' biggest rivals.
That's one way to divide a family. Naturally, Habs fans weren't too thrilled either:
At least the Caufield brothers somewhat benefit from being in rival franchises. They're not too far from one another and can visit when the Habs play in Toronto, and the Marlies travel to Laval to take on the Rocket in Quebec.
Interestingly enough, even though both American-born brothers play for Canadian teams, their father, Paul, is Canadian, making them eligible for dual citizenship.
Brock Caufield is coming off of his 5th and final season with the NCAA's University of Wisconsin Badgers. In 36 games last season, Caufield racked up 11 goals and 23 points.
