The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed forward Max Ellis from Notre Dame to a two year entry-level contract that will begin at the start of next season. The deal includes Ellis joining the Marlies on a PTO for the remainder of this season.
In 39 games for Notre Dame this season, Ellis had 28 points, leading the team in scoring. It resulted in him being named to the All Big 10 2nd team.
Last season, the Leafs signed Alex Steeves out of Notre Dame, who impressed in a short stint with the Leafs this season as well as having a great season for the Toronto Marlies, scoring 21 goals and 42 points total in 48 games.
The Leafs have had sucess with NCAA free agents in the past and hopefully they see the same success with Ellis.
