There's been a lot of speculation as to what the Leafs' blueline might look like in the playoffs and at the start of next season. Well, this afternoon, the Leafs announced that defenseman Conor Timmins has been inked to a 2-year contract carrying a $1.1 million AAV.

Timmins was acquired earlier this season in a trade with the Arizona Coyotes for AHL centreman Curtis Douglas. The 24-year-old defender has 12 points in 18 games with the Leafs this season.

This likely means the end of Justin Holl with the Maple Leafs. Timmins is a much more dynamic player with a significant amount of upside and his new contract is just over half of what Holl is currently making. I would not expect to see him in the blue and white come next season - unless the plan is to move Timothy Liljegren, which does not seem to be the case.

The value on this deal is absolutely fantastic. Next season's Leafs team will now have Rasmus Sandin, Timothy Liljegren, Mark Giordano and Timmins playing for a combined $4.7 million. That's some incredible value on the blueline. If Dubas didn't already deserve a contract extension, he absolutely does after this signing. Some tidy work from the Leafs GM indeed.

Timmins will remain an RFA at the conclusion of his new deal as well.
