Leafs trade a depth defenseman to the Nashville Predators

The Toronto Maple Leafs have made another trade, this time with the Nashville Predators, their opponents from Saturday evening, sending depth defenseman Alex Biega to the Preds.

Biega, 33, has made it into just two games for the Leafs this season, recording no points and going -2 in those appearances. He has also played 31 games for the AHL's Toronto Marlies, putting up 7 points and finishing his Marlies career as a +13 player with 28 PIMs.

This move opens up a contract spot for the Leafs, indicating that there is likely at least one or two more moves on the way from Leafs GM Kyle Dubas. A lot of the Leafs' decisions are likely hinging on what happens with the injuries to Ondrej Kase and Rasmus Sandin, as well as the Petr Mrazek waivers situation, which won't resolve until 2pm ET.

In terms of a return, the Leafs will get nothing at this time, but there will be future considerations.
