Despite the trade deadline being 48 hours ago, Kevin Weekes is still breaking trades from random places. The Leafs have traded defenseman Brennan Menell to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for future considerations.

Menell was acquired by the Leafs from Minnesota in the offseason for a conditional 7th. The condition on that pick was the Wild would get it if Menell played at least 30 games with the Leafs. That did not happen as Menell battled injuries all season and appeared in just 15 games for the Toronto Marlies. Now, with Menell being shipped off to Philadelphia - Toronto will keep their 7th round pick.

It was an injury riddled season for Menell, who some fans thought would be a dark horse to crack the Leafs lineup after an impressive preseason and season in the KHL the year prior. Especially with how thin the Leafs' right side appeared prior to the start of the season.

Instead, the 24-year-old battled injuries and couldn't find his role in the AHL with the Marlies. Now, Menell looks for a fresh start in Philly. Of course, he will not be eligible to play for the Flyers this season, due to the trade coming after the deadline.
