With the Penguins and Rangers midway through the second overtime, the refs blew the whistle when the Pens had possession as Casey DeSmith was talking with the officials saying something was wrong. At first, everyone thought it was something to do with his mask as he took a shot off of it earlier in the period.

After discussions at the Pens bench, Pens backup Louis Domingue was called over from the tunnel to put his gear on as DeSmith was having some discomfort in his leg. DeSmith was seen limping down the tunnel putting little weight on his right leg.

At the time he had faced 51 shots in the game so far. It could be a leg injury, but it is most likely the beginning of cramps from dehydration for DeSmith. Louis Domingue enters the game not having faced a shot in 4.5 hours since warm ups and hasn't played since April 24th.

It will be interesting to see what the Pens say after the game about DeSmith and whether this is a long term injury or simply dehydration as suspected. With Jarry already sidelined, this would be a huge loss for the Pens.
