A day after the Leafs 4-1 victory over Tampa Bay, Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe had his players back on the ice for a Wednesday morning practice. There are expected to be a couple of roster changes ahead of Thursday's game against Philadelphia, but perhaps the most notable one comes in goal.
Keefe announced following practice on Wednesday that goaltender Ilya Samsonov will be the starting goaltender for Thursday afternoon's 2pm ET matinee against the Flyers.
Samsonov enters the game with a record of 9-3-0 and sports a 1.98 GAA, good for third best in the NHL this season. He is looking for a rebound performance after allowing 5 goals on 28 shots in Washington last week.
The Maple Leafs enter the game with a record of 20-7-6 and in second place in the Atlantic Division. The Buds also sit in 2nd in the entire NHL, tied with the Carolina Hurricanes with 46 points, behind only Boston (52). Their next game following tomorrow's matinee with Philly won't come until after the Christmas Break on Dec. 27 when they hit the road to take on the St. Louis Blues.
