Conor Timmins has been sidelined since the 29th of September with a lower body injury that he sustained in a pre-season game against the Montreal Canadiens. Unfortunately Sheldon Keefe revealed that "he's a ways away from playing" but has been progressing.
The 25-year-old who scored 14 points in just 25 games last season, had tallied 2 goals and 6 points in 3 pre-season games was making his case to being named to the opening night roster prior to his injury. On the 2nd of October, he was ruled out with a week-to-week designation and it doesn't seem like he'll be back any time soon. On the bright side he has been seen skating with the return-to-play staff over the last few days.
As for Jake McCabe, he has already been ruled out for tomorrow night's game against Boston with a groin injury and there's a chance that he might be out for a few more games. Keefe said he will skate on his own tomorrow but that it is unlikely he suits up on the weekend.
It's been a down season for the 30-year-old trade deadline acquisition from last season. In 7 games he has recorded no points, has only averaged 16:47 TOI - which is almost 3 minutes less per game than what he was averaging last season in Toronto - and is a -4 on the year after having chemistry issues with John Klingberg to start the season.
As things stand going into tomorrow's game, the Maple Leafs will be rolling with Morgan Rielly, T.J. Brodie, Mark Giordano, Timothy Liljegren, John Klingberg, and William Lagesson.
