The Toronto Marlies welcomed the Utica Comets to Coca-Cola Colosseum this afternoon in some AHL action. The Marlies quickly jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first period. With just over 4 minutes left in the first, Kyle Clifford got tangled up in front of the Utica net with Samuel Laberge. The two exchanged words and some punches with their gloves on before getting away from the linesmen and fighting. Clifford handily won the fight, even delivering a shot to Laberge down on the ice after the altercation for good measure.

As Clifford was being escorted away from Laberge and the rest of the Utica Comets, words were exchanged that made Clifford turn around and skate back towards the Utica players on the ice. After being directed away by the linesman again to the penalty box, Clifford was told he was ejected in an attempt to ease some of the tension in the game and prevent any additional outbursts from the former Leaf.

When Clifford got to the Marlies' bench, he exchanged words with the Utica bench and even gave a slight push to the linesman during the heated exchange before leaving the ice. Clifford received five minutes for fighting and a 10-minute, misconduct for being the aggressor in the fight.
