Masai Ujiri pumps the Leafs' tires during Raptors' end of season press conference
While the Raptors miracle comeback from a 3-0 deficit in their first round series fell short, there was lots to celebrate on the court this season. At the Raptors end of season press conference, team President Masai Ujiri had nothing but good things to say about his team. He also made sure to shout out the Leafs after they demolished the Tampa Bay Lighning 5-0 the in the first game of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.
Ujiri was the mastermind behind the Toronto Raptors incredible run to the 2019 NBA Championship, clearly he sees something special in this year's Leafs team as well. After last night's game, its hard not to be excited about where this can go. Of course, one victory does not win a Stanley Cup, but being 15 wins away is unequivocally better than being 16 away.
The Leafs will be back in action against the Bolts Wednesday night for game 2. Look for a much more competitive game from the Lightning, and for more of the same from the Leafs. I doubt we'll see another 5-0 win, but if the defensive effort is as good as it was in game 1, I think they'll be able to head to Florida with a 2-0 series lead.
