Before tonight's game, all the hype was surrounding the 19 and 18 game point streaks for Mitch Marner and Jason Robertson, respectively. Coming out of the game, all eyes should be firmly placed on Matt Murray, who was absolutely sublime between the pipes as he made 44 saves for the shutout victory against the Dallas Stars.

Mitch Marner collected an assist on the game's first goal by John Tavares, Jason Robertson's streak came to an end, and Matt Murray continued his strong play since returning from the IR. The Stars had 7 power-plays, took 44 shots in the game, and had a whopping 17 in the middle frame, but nothing got past the Thunder Bay native tonight.

Kyle Cushman tweeted after the game that Murray's 44 save performance is tied for 3rd most in a shutout by a Maple Leafs goaltender in franchise history, trailing only the 49 save shutout by James Reimer on the 4th of February, 2012, and the 47 save shutout from Mike Palmateer on the 12 of March, 1977.

To put things more into perspective on the his performance tonight, he saved approximately goals above expected. This is reportedly the most impressive shutout since the stat had first begun being recorded. He faced some dangerous shooters as well. Tyler Seguin had 6 shots on goal, Joe Pavelski, Miro Heiskanen, and Robertson each had 4 shots, and Roope Hintz had 3 cracks himself.

Murray has now improved his record to 6-1-2, hasn't lost a regulation game since the season opener, and has a save percentage well over .930 in that span.
