In a blockbuster deal over the summer, Matthew Tkachuk took his talents from the ''C of Red'' in Calgary to the Sunshine state in Florida after he informed the Flames he intended to test free agency when his contract ended. The Panthers gave up a lot for the point-producing pest, and while their blueline is thin with Aaron Ekblad injured and MacKenzie Weegar sent off to Calgary, Tkachuk has come out flying in Florida.

With another 2 points last night, he set a franchise record for the Panthers. He's the first Panther to record a point in 5 straight games to begin their career in Florida. Coming off of a 104-point season, expectations were high for Tkachuk considering what Florida gave up for him. Not only did Tkachuk add a couple points last night, but he also lived up to his reputation and roughed up Nikita Kucherov after Kucherov threw a questionable hit on Aleksander Barkov.

The Panthers are one of the few teams off today before returning to action tomorrow against the Islanders, where Tkachuk will look to continue his hot streak to start the season.
