The Toronto Maple Leafs made some roster moves today by signing Zach Aston-Reese and placing a number of players on waivers, including Wayne Simmonds, Kyle Clifford, Adam Gaudette and Victor Mete.

With these moves, the opening night roster picture is becoming clearer. According to Nick Alberga of Sportsnet, forward Denis Malgin has made the Toronto Maple Leafs roster as well, after a sensational training camp.

Malgin has spent the last two years in Switzerland fixing his game, which appears to have paid off, as the 25-year-old forward notched 4 goals and 4 assists for 8 points during the preseason. His 8 points matches Nick Robertson's 8 points for the team high in preseason scoring.

Malgin has shown that he can be a quality NHL player wherever he plays in the lineup. The Leafs originally acquired Malgin in 2020 in exchange for Mason Marchment. He signed a one-year deal with the Leafs earlier this summer.

In his career, Malgin has played in 192 NHL games scoring 28 goals and 32 assists for 60 points.
