Shane Wright was projected to go first overall in this past NHL draft for almost 2 years. Unfortunately, the Canadiens, Devils and Coyotes all decided against picking him, meaning Wright had fallen out of the top 3 and landed right in Seattle's lap at #4. When selected by Seattle, it looked as though Wright was giving the "death stare" to the Habs draft table, something he later clarified saying he was not.

After being ranked as the top prospect for so long, it's understandable to see why there was frustration for Wright after he dropped to 4th overall. Fourth overall isn't so bad though, Cale Makar went fourth to Colorado and look how well that's turned out.

Another 4th overall selection, the Leafs' own Mitch Marner, reached out to Wright to offer some support to the disappointed youngster, after watching him free-fall from that top spot to offer some words of encouragement.

"I think everyone could see a little bit of frustration from him. Just wanted to text him saying 4th is a nice pick. Nothing wrong going 4th."

It was a nice gesture from the Leafs' right winger, who has had his fair share of criticism over the years. Marner is right though -- there is nothing wrong with going 4th as some other 4th overall selections include, Steve Yzerman, Roberto Luongo, Nick Backstrom, Paul Kariya, Ron Francis, Alex Pieterangelo and Lanny MacDonald.

You can bet that Wright will be playing with a little more intensity whenever the Kracken take on the Habs, Devils or Coyotes, to prove to them they made a mistake passing over him.
