One of the stars of the playoffs for the Leafs - and arguably their best player - was Morgan Rielly, who tallied 12 points in 11 games, including an all-important overtime winner in Game 3. Rielly was recently on a podcast called Jake's Takes and revealed that the goal came off of a set play. He also revealed who called the play. William Nylander.
Rielly reveals that Nylander told him, rather than moving down low to get involved along the wall, to remain up high. Fortunately, when O'Reilly won the draw, the puck wound up right on Rielly's stick and the rest is history.
With Nylander calling the shots on the play that led to Rielly's Game 3 OT winner, it's abundantly clear that the Swedish forward is more than just a scoring winger. If he's out there calling plays, he's also displaying some leadership qualities as well.
Rielly may have played the hero in Game 3, but as he pointed out in the video, Nylander deserves a ton of credit for steering the play as well.
