Coming into the third period with the Leafs and Sabres locked in a 2-2 draw, Leafs goaltender Petr Mrazek certainly didn't save his best effort for the third frame, as he allowed a pair of really tough goals that were very costly for his team at that stage of the game.
First, Mrazek failed to get himself tight to his post when Sabres forward Vinny Hinostroza fired a puck from the goal line near the far corner that found its way through.
The next one was just a squeaker that got through Mrazek's body as he was playing pretty deep in his net. There was some curiosity over whether or not the goal would count, as not only was the net knocked off, but the whistle had gone as well. However, after a short review, the goal was confirmed.
The Sabres went on to add an empty-netter to secure the victory in Hamilton.
All in all, the Leafs put forth a better defensive effort in front of Mrazek in this one, and still Mrazek could not hold his own, allowing a few of the ugliest goals we've seen from him all year.
The concern is growing. At this point, with Campbell out of the lineup, we could be looking at rookie Erik Kallgren taking over the net this week. However, the real question is, will Kyle Dubas do something to address his team's issues in goal at the deadline?
