It's pretty common at a sporting event for someone to be detained or even thrown out by security. When you pack fans of opposing teams into a building and introduce alcohol into the equation, things can spiral in a hurry. However, what do you do when the security team uses excessive force?
As Toronto Maple Leafs fans were leaving the game Saturday night following a 5-3 loss to the Colorado Avalanche, one fan was reportedly being obnoxious eventually found himself detained by MLSE security. The problem was that the altercation was a lot more violent than it needed to be.
The detaining of the fan was captured on video and shows a member of the MLSE security team seemingly use excessive force in repeated knees to the fan's head and face. Following multiple knees the security guard was able to control the fan's one arm, but the repeated strikes led to a large amount of bleeding from the fan's head.
The video is included below, but I'll issue a warning to proceed at your own discretion. The video contains both violence and blood. This content can be potentially upsetting to some.
MLSE is currently investigating the incident but there is no further information available at this time. One thing we do know is that this could very well be the last time that security guard works for MLSE, given how things look on video.
