The internet can be a pretty unforgiving place and for someone who is in the public eye, including a professional athlete like former Colorado Avalanche forward Tyson Jost, the only way to escape the constant cyber-bullying is to either not use social media at all, or to just never check your comments and DM's.

Now with the Minnesota Wild, Jost, who was the Avs' 1st round pick, 10th overall back in 2016, had a particularly tough summer after watching his former team and all of his friends win their first Stanley Cup in 21 years. Jost was traded by the Avs to the Wild as a cap dump last season for Nico Sturm, who didn't suit up for one single postseason game.

Jost revealed in a recent interview that this summer was very emotionally trying for him and the personal attacks from Avs fans only made it worse.

"There were definitely nights where I wasn't sleeping and going through a pretty emotional time.. Mentally, I was already dealing with some stuff and then you see mean-spirited messages from Avalanche fans saying 'we wouldn't have won the cup if you hadn't been traded' and other vile comments, it made it worse."

"You dream of winning the Cup and then you see your best friends doing that. It was just... a lot of tears. Just sucked."

Everyone is dealing with something and kindness is absolutely free. Jost may be a professional athlete, but he's also a human being. A little humanity never hurt anyone. Jost also says he had to delete his instagram account.

Hopefully he can put together a strong season with the Wild and put this all behind him.
