Maple Leafs winger Nicholas Robertson threw a massive hit towards the end of the second period on Hurricanes star Seth Jarvis, sending him flying. He's probably the last person you would expect to clear the crease for Leafs goaltender Martin Jones.
It wasn't a one and done for Robertson tonight, as he was seen earlier in the first period delivering a hit on guess who, Seth Jarvis. It appears Robertson took a number tonight, and Jarvis' was chosen. He also threw another hit in the third period.
Robertson isn't known for throwing the body, so It's not something you expect to see often from him, but it shows that he's working hard away from the puck to keep himself in the lineup and contribute to the team in other ways.
Robertson finished the night with a goal, 2 hits, 1 shot block and was a +2 in 10:48 of ice time. Talk about making the most of a limited opportunity.
Sometimes it's the little things that help spark players and keep them in the lineup, and those hits by Robertson are certainly showing that he wants to stay and continue being an everyday NHLer.
