The Leafs are 4-2-1 over their last 7 games and have put fans through an emotional roller coaster with blown leads and poor performances. Defensively, they have been absolutely horrible and goaltending has been suspect, although that is largely in part due to the poor defensive coverage, but at least the top line of Bunting, Matthews and Marner has continued to produce at a ridiculous level.

Over their last 7 games the trio has combine for 40 points (16G, 24A) with Marner leading the way putting up 15 himself (5G, 10A). Matthews, of course, leads the trio in goals with 7 (6 assists) while Bunting has 4 goals and 8 assists.

Thankfully the trio has been producing at a ridiculous clip, given the struggles of Tavares, Nylander and whoever they slot in next to them and the hit and miss production of the third and fourth lines.

The Athletic's James Mirtle pointed out something on Twitter that I thought was absolutely wild. Matthews, at the rate he's going, is set to become the Leafs' all-time leading scorer midway through the 2024-2025 season, at just 27 years old.

Let's hope this line can continue its dominance, but finally gets some secondary support from Tavares, Nylander and the rest of the forward group, because we all know what happens in the playoffs if the top line dries up.
