After recording an assist last night, we could very well see Simmonds earn himself another game with the Buds. Kyle Clifford played a team-low 9:06 in Winnipeg and while he also contributed to the David Kampf goal with a secondary assist, he was not overly noticeable in the contest, other than taking a tripping penalty in the first period. It would be at least moderately surprising to see him get a second consecutive game.
It would appear as though Zach Aston-Reese could be the odd man out, having suited up in a grey "extras" jersey in practice on Sunday. As for Pierre Engvall, he's likely the one who draws back in on Monday. Engvall simply has more tools in the toolbox and can also contribute with some secondary scoring than any of Aston-Reese, Aube-Kubel and Clifford.
Another thing that leads me to believe that Engvall will draw back in are the comments made by Sheldon Keefe on Saturday. Keefe called yesterday's scratch a "reset" for Engvall. It's not exactly a reset for the player if Engvall remains a scratch for much of this road trip.
