One of the greatest Leafs of all time gives all of the dads out there a special Father's Day nod
As Mother's Day has come and gone with May, so too has Father's Day come with June. For myself personally, today is a bit of a tough day, having lost my dad in 2016. However, being a step-dad, today is a day to sit back and reflect on all of the lessons my dad taught me over the years and some of the lessons I've been able to pass down to my step-kids over time.
Just as the rest of us, your favourite Maple Leafs, past and present, are also celebrating Father's Day today and one Leafs legend, Doug Gilmour, took to Twitter on Sunday to send some love to his late father and father-in-law, and also sent his best wishes to the rest of the dads out there as well.
"Happy Heavenly Fathers Day to my Dad who's always watching over all of us with my Father-in-law from above. And to all the Dads and single parents out there doing double duty have an amazing day. ❤️"
Like Gilmour, I'd also like to extend my best wishes to all of you out there who proudly wear the badge of fatherhood, whether it's in the traditional sense or otherwise. Happy Father's Day. Enjoy your day, dads!
