P.K. Subban comes forward with serious allegations against Hockey Canada
Toronto native P.K. Subban made a career out of being a very animated and emotional player during his time in the National Hockey League. After a career that spanned 13 seasons and 834 games, Subban called it quits in 2022 and has since been spending a lot of time in front of he camera as opposed to on the ice.
Subban was known for his flashy play and over the top celebrations, but he was once one of the top offensive defensemen in the NHL. His star status had even earned him the opportunity to represent his country in the Olympics in 2014. However, he has since come out and revealed that Hockey Canada had informed him specifically not to celebrate like the other players on the team.
Whether the decision was related to the standards by Hockey Canada for how it wanted its athletes to behave or whether it was actually a racially-motivated decision is another discussion entirely. The fact, though, that Subban was approached and told not to celebrate his goals is certainly not a good look for the organization.
Subban is a strong-willed, influential individual to be sure, so the fact that he's using his platform to expose this type of behaviour should speak volumes about how he feels about the entire situation. With all of the scandals surrounding Hockey Canada right now, these new allegations are certainly not painting a very pretty picture.
