With Canada having advanced to the gold medal game at the World Junior Championship tournament earlier on Friday, all eyes were on Finland and Sweden to see who would be able to punch their ticket to the Finals against Canada.

Finland made good on their effort, skating away with a 1-0 win over the Swedes on Friday night, thanks to a second power play goal from defenseman Kasper Puutio, which was assisted by Aatu Raty and Leafs prospect Topi Niemela.

With the win, Niemela and Suomi captain and fellow Leafs prospect Roni Hirvonen will play Canada on Saturday evening and will add either a 2022 IIHF WJC gold or silver medal to their trophy case.

Fun fact, the last 9 WJC tournaments have been split equally between Canada, Finland and USA, with each country skating away with 3 gold medal victories each.
