Meanwhile, a pair of Maple Leafs stars are enjoying one last day of fun before training camp opens up. Mitch Marner and Morgan Rielly traveled to Buffalo, NY to take in the Buffalo Bills/Las Vegas Raiders game.
Marner and Rielly both have something to prove this season. For Marner, it will be about putting together another tremendous season in hopes of surpassing that elusive 100-point plateau. Most importantly, it will be about carrying that momentum into the playoffs and continuing to be a game-changer for the Leafs when the games matter most.
For Rielly, he'll be looking to stay healthy for a full 82-game schedule this season and trying to remain as productive as possible, especially on the man advantage, in hopes of keeping his spot on the top powerplay unit with John Klingberg coming in this season. As you may or may not know, Klingberg has shown himself to be an elite powerplay point producer over the years.
At the time of this piece, Rielly and Marner are all smiles, as the Bills are up 28-10 over the Raiders with just over 2 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter. Hopefully they enjoy the rest of their outing, as the rest of the week may not be as enjoyable as the Leafs' coaching staff will be putting the players through the ringer in on-ice sessions in preparation of the pre-season.
