The Leafs and Panthers meet tonight for the first time since the Panthers ended the Leafs' playoff run in May. For the Leafs, this marks the beginning of a five-game road trip that will see them take on the Panthers, Lightning, Stars, Predators and Capitals before returning to Toronto for a Halloween matchup with the Los Angeles Kings on October 31st.

As far as tonight's game in Florida is concerned, many were looking forward to the Leafs perhaps seeking retribution on Sam Bennett, who had concussed Matthew Knies in Game 2 of their second round series this spring. Bennett had slammed Knies to the ice with force, appearing to be more of a wrestling move than a hockey play, forcing Knies to miss the remainder of the series.

For the Leafs and Leaf fans that were hoping Ryan Reaves would get some retribution for Knies, it won't be happening tonight, as Panthers head coach Paul Maurice announced that Sam Bennett, Aaron Ekblad and Brandon Montour will be unavailable tonight.

Following a poor showing against Chicago Monday night, the Leafs will look to take advantage of a Panthers team missing two of their top-four defensemen and one of their top-six forwards.
