Earlier this off-season, the Calgary Flames and Florida Panthers made a trade that absolutely shook the hockey world and changed the landscape of their teams drastically. The Flames traded superstar agitator Matthew Tkachuk and a conditional fourth round pick in the 2025 NHL entry draft for superstar Jonathan Huberdeau, top-4 defender MacKenzie Weegar, prospect Cole Schwindt and a conditional first round pick in the first sign-and-trade deal in NHL history. With training camps finally opening up, Aleksander Barkov finally gets to play with his new line mate. The Panthers captain commented on what Tkachuk brings to the team during media day.
"He's the guy who pisses you off. He's amazing. He's a great guy. Ever since the first time I talked to him I was impressed right away. He's the guy we needed here to get us to the next level."

Tkachuk, 24, is coming off of a career year, scoring 42 goals and contributing 62 assists for a total of 104 points in 82 games. The former first round pick definitely gets into his opponents heads and does have leadership abilities after acting as an alternate captain for the Flames. It will definitely be interesting to see how this plays out for both teams.
